Telling Our Stories has been My Dream

As a Black Muslim father it's always been important to have things to read to my children that featured people who represented them. Being a writer has given me the ability to put a book in the world that adds to the diversity in children's literature many parents look for.

Achieving Your Purpose, LLC

My brand represents embracing your life's journey and transforming pain into purpose. It all started when I became a teen mom at the age of 16. The moment I found out I was pregnant, I was determined to change the trajectory of my life. I had no clue how to do it or if it was even possible, but I set and accomplished the goals that put me in a position to do exactly that.

I'm Unique

In society black and brown children are severely under represented. The presence of black and brown children aren't seen as much as their peers in cartoons, toys, books and even in the classroom. In 2016, just 4 years ago, The Cooperative Children's Book Center at the University of Wisconsin, counted 427 books written or illustrated by people of color, and 736 books involving people of color. That equals to 22 percent of children's books. Children need to see themselves being represented in today's society. This book introduces Unique Unicorn. She is a brown unicorn that is trying to fit in with her new environment. However, she notices she is not quite like everyone else. This story holds a powerful message for children. Can Unique learn to fit in? Read to find out. Purchase a copy here
